I grew up pitching the dream of being a horse trainer to myself daily. I idolized the ability to be around the horses, riding, and making money doing it. All of that seemed so wonderful that I never stopped to take a critical look at the lifestyle the trainers I knew (and loved) were forced to lead, even if seemingly they were doing it by choice.
So over time, as the determined and stubborn, “don’t take no for an answer” sassy queen I am often known to be, through grit and determination I did claw my way into this lifestyle myself. I was constantly told it was going to be hard, and that tolerating all the “hard” aspects was part of it, so even in the beginning of my professional career I survived quite a bit that I wouldn’t let myself go through now. It was only much further down the road in my career as a pro that I finally paused for long enough to realize how absolutely crazy, often intolerable, pride swallowing, and utterly illogical this lifestyle can be. This blog is about that. Enjoy 🙂
